Tarakarama Thirtha Sagaram Reservoir Project, Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh
TTS Reservoir Project
Tarakarama Thirtha Sagaram Reservoir Project envisages stabilization of existing wet ayacut of 3307 Ha (8172 Ac) under Kumili channel system, and to create irrigation facilities (ID) for 6693 Ha (16538 Ac) of new areas in Vizianagaram. Besides irrigation, the scheme provides drinking water supply to enroute villages.
This project involved construction of a Barrage across river Champavathi near Kotagandredu village to dispose off a maximum flood discharge of 70,000 Cusecs at FRL +42.50 M. A head sluice is proposed at right angle with the axis of the barrage to divert a discharge of 1205 Cusecs through a diversion canal into an inland reservoir.
The inland reservoir at Kumili is developed to store the diverted waters from Champavathi river by improving the existing big tank of Kumili village to store 1.883 TMC of water at FRL, including a dead storage of 0.445 TMC. The FRL of the reservoir is +38.00 M and the TBL is fixed at +42.00 M.
The Right Main Canal and Left Main Canal are being constructed to cover the distributory system to irrigate existing wet ayacut of 3307 Ha (8172 Ac) under Kumili channel system, and to create irrigation facilities (ID) for 6693 Ha (16538 Ac) of new areas in Vizianagaram.
ConTec has prepared design for cross masonry & cross drainage works on diversion channel for the Tarakarama Thirtha Sagaram Reservoir Project for the EPC agency, M/s Srinivasa construction Pvt. Ltd.
