Ash Dyke, Aluminium Smelter, Jharsuguda, Orissa
Vedanta Alumina Limited (VAL), a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources PLC, had proposed to set up a Green field Aluminium Smelter of 5 Lakh TPA capacity with 1200 MW Captive Power Plant at Jharsuguda, Orissa, India. Tender for design, engineering and construction of Ash Dyke in two phases on EPC basis was called for. Peripheral dyke length of Phase # 1 was 6 Kms (approximately) and for Phase # 2 was 4 Kms (approximately). The total area involved in both the phases was 1,000 acres approx. The ash disposal system to be installed was the state of art "High Concentration Slurry Disposal System" (designed for 40% ash content) wherein both fly ash and bottom ash shall be mixed together in predetermined concentration to form the slurry before disposal through pipeline.
ConTec had carried out preliminary design for proposed Ash Dyke (Phase # 1) including specification drawing and expected bill of quantity.
